Hello friends! Today I am sharing a layout I created for Art Party Friday on The Crafty Maven Getaway YouTube channel. I love this weeks fun citrus inspired mood board. I knew I wanted to create a fun background.

I began with some American Crafts White textured cardstock and some of my Shimmerz Paints (if you make any purchases at Shimmerz Paints mention my name at checkout and you’ll receive a FREE product.) I used Coloringz in No Yoking and Don’t Citron me. I also used a Spritz in 4 Leaf Clover. I did the packaging technique as well as some stenciling with a small stencil called  Bokeh Fragments by The Crafters Workshop . I used the stencil as a stamp as well. I added some splatters in all of the colors as well as in black using black India Ink.

I chose to use a picture from a few years back of my two boys and my nephew. It was taken at a Birthday Party at a park towards the end of the day! They were exhausted from running around, they weren’t too excited for photos. I decided my title would be an appropriately sarcastic “Hooray.” I used a few sheets of Patterned paper from the Studio Calico Lemon Lush 12×12 paper pad. I took one of the papers that had a lot of florals on it and fussy cut the florals. I then clustered them in two ares of my layout. I scattered some of the smaller ones around.

I also scattered around some of the Pinkfresh Studio Felicity Collection puffy stickers and some of the sticky back brads from the Simple Stories Sunshine and Happiness Collection. As a finishing touch I added clusters of three small black enamel dots in various sizes.

Lastly, I added a lime green piece of patterned paper from my stash to mat the whole layout. I also distressed the edges of the white cardstock all the way around.

Halloween 2016-Art Party Friday

12138485_705950913228_347815577822020753_o

Hello everyone! I am sharing this layout I created for The Crafty Maven Getaway. Today is Art Party Friday. I decided to use a mix of the Halloween Mood board and this weeks mood for my layout.

I began with American Crafts White Textured Cardstock. I did not prime my page with Gesso, I usually never do. My inspiration for the layout also came from an older Basic Grey Halloween/Fall chipboard set. I began began by getting a little messy and creating my background. I grabbed a piece of packaging and stared by creating the green color that was in the chipboard set. I mixed two Lyndy’s stamp Gang mists, Ponderosa Pines Olive and My Mojito Green. I then added in some yellow from my inexpensive watercolor set. I also used the Lindy’s Stamp Gang in Red Hot Poker Orange and one of my Shimmerz Vibez in Plum Tuckered Out. I added some splatters in the orange and purple as well as some splatters with black India Ink. I felt like my background was not complete. I took my Ranger Water Color Brush and added some shading with Grey from my inexpensive Michaels Artist Loft Pan set.

I layered a black piece of cardstock behind my photo and I added a few patterned papers from an older Studio Calico 6×6 paper pad. I then used a few of the Basic Grey chipboard pieces including a spooky tree that I just love and an oval frame. I didn’t want to over do it. I wanted the photo and the background to be the main focus. I also added a few bats from the Crate Paper After Dark Glitter Foam Word Thickers.

For my tittle I used Black circle Basic Grey Letter Stickers which are from the B-side Collection. then I used some Glitter Thickers numbers to write out 2016. I used my black India Ink and a brush to color them black. I then scattered around a few Tim Holtz Tiny word stickers and one from a Teresa Collins letter sticker sheet.

As a finishing touch I trimmed off a half inch all around and matted my photo on a Crate Paper black and white patterned paper. I love how my background and layout turned out.

The Crafty Maven Getaway: Art Party Friday

Hello Friends. I was on The Crafty Maven Getaway Channel this past Friday with a Mixed Media Scrapbook Layout. On The Crafty Maven Getaway we have a weekly Inspiration board. This is the one I followed this week:

I loved the blues in this peace and the pop of red. I decided to recreate the look of the sky and the water in the photo I was scrapbooking. The photo was taken in St. Marteen this past summer. We took a week long cruise and this was one of the beautiful stops. I used some acrylic gloss medium to create some texture, my idea was to create the look of waves and the ocean. I used some spray mist in three different shades of blue and created an ombre effect while mimicking the photo. I added a few pops of red with some simple embellishing and a border around the whole page. I really love how this turned out.

Happy New Year 2016

Can you believe how quickly 2015 has gone? It seems like only yesterday I was celebrating New Years Eve 2015. I was scheduled on the first of January on The Crafty Maven Getaway YouTube Channel and I knew I wanted to create a project inspired by the lovely inspiration piece which reminded me of New Years Eve. The color scheme of black, silver, gold and pops of red really screamed New Years to me. I had a photo from last years New Years Eve that I hadn’t scrapped and I thought it was just perfect. Being that January 1st was a Friday, I had to follow that days theme which is Art Party Friday. I used Pearlescent Water Colors , Gelattos, Art C Molding Paste  and  Amy Tangerine Stencils to create a Firework inspired background for my photo. It is always fun to use mixed media and create fun, unique backgrounds for my Scrapbooking Layouts. Thanks for stopping by, May 2016 be a fantastic year.
