Sand Play Layout- Spiegelmom Scraps

img_4930

Hello friends! I am up on the Spiegelmom Scraps Blog  sharing a fun Beach Layout using one of the free cut files available on the website. Sadly, this is my last post on the SMS Blog. I am very sad to go, Jody is amazing and I have so many friends on the team. However I will continue to use the amazing SMS products on my projects. For this layout I used my Shimmerz Paints and a sticker sheet from the Carta Bella  Beach Day Collection. Make sure you head on over and check out my post.

You are Here Layout- Stash Bash YouTube Hop

img_4710

Hello everyone! I was invited by my friend Christine to join her and a few other ladies in a fun monthly YouTube Hop. Each month we plan to focus on a specific item in our stash. The idea is to use up as much of that item as we can and hopefully make a dent in our stash. This month our focus is on Stickers.

We crafters and scrapbookers tend to collect a lot of things, we love to buy what is new and trending hence leaving the “old” behind. After years of crafting, you end up with this huge stash. This challenge is a great opportunity to use up some of those items.

I decided to use the Simple Stories You are Here Collection. I have already used a ton of this collection.  However I had a lot of the stickers that I had not used. I pulled out the 12×12 Sticker sheet and the 12×12 Alpha Sticker sheet. My goal was to use as much as I could. This collection has been perfect for scrapbooking my Hawaii trip from 2016. Today I am scrapping a photo from that trip. It is a photo of me and my two boys in front of Waimea Canyon in Kauai, Hawaii. Kauai was one of the stops our cruise ship made. I have to say it was one of my favorites. We rented a car and drove out to Waimea Canyon. It was absolutely beautiful. We had a lovely day. I only wish we could have spent a few more hours there exploring.

I used a sketch I found on Pinterest by Kristine Davidson as a starting off point.

I used several patterned papers, all from the You are Here Collection, I also used the 3×4 & 4×6 cut apart sheets as layers and to punch out the hexagon shapes. I added some brown cardstock behind all of the hexagons.

I embellished using only stickers. I was so happy to have used up the majority of the stickers on the 12×12 sticker sheet. I added dimension to some of the stickers by adding fun foam to the back.

Even my tittle is from the sticker sheet. I added fun foam behind that as well. I added some enamel dots in coordinating colors as a finishing touch.

I absolutely love how this turned out! I was so happy with the amount of stickers I was able to use up. I can’t wait for next month’s challenge.

Back To Our Roots-Obsessed with Katty & Christy

yfullsizerender

Hello friends! Christy and I are back with another Season of our Obsessed Series. This time around we are Obsessed with The Dear Lizzy Saturday Collection. A lot of collections came out around the same time as this one but Christy and I immediately chose to work with this one. In case you’re not familiar with our Obsessed series, Christy and I choose a collection we both love. We both get as many things from that collection as possible. Every other week we chose 3-4 papers from that collection and a challenge to work with. It’s a lot of fun and a great way to use up the new collection as well as other things from our stash.

This week we chose 4 papers to work with and our challenge was a recipe challenge. The recipe includes: A long tittle, washi tape, 3 wood veneer and 1 frame.

I only had one of the papers in 12×12 size so I used that as my background. For my long tittle I used a cut file from the JustNick Etsy Store called Marquee Alpha and cut out my tittle. I cut it out on White American Crafts Textured Cardstock and backed the letters with navy blue cardstock. I used a black and white stripped washi tape under all of the words.

I also used a cut file from the Silhouette Studio with an airplane and the word vacation on it. SInce the 12×12 patterned paper has diagonal stripes I took advantage of that and placed my tittle at an angle. Eventually I realized that my photo looked better at an angle too. I used a Simple Stories Chipboard frame over the photo and added a few simple layers behind it.

I embellished using pieces from the Dear Lizzy Saturday  ephemera pack, sticker sheet and puffy stickers. I also added my three wood veneer, I decided to go with three airplanes since I am scrapbooking a photo of my mom and my brother at the airport about to head to my country of birth, Cuba. My mom had not returned since we left 27 years ago. It was a very emotional but great trip for her. The vacation cut file needed some color so I used one of my Shimmerz Paints Creameez in the color Lettuce get Together (Remember, if you place any orders at Shimmerz mention my name and you’ll receive a FREE product.)

Katty <-<-<-YOU ARE HERE
I created a 12×12 layout. For this hop we are following this fun sketch.
img_4311
I began with a Cream and white Patterned paper from Elle’s Studio. I used three photos just as the sketch calls for. I used a sequence of photos of my two boys enjoying fake snowfall at a local mall this past December.
zzzfullsizerender
I layered a few different patterned papers from my stash in red and blue shades. I used the Free Snowflake Cutfile from Spiegelmom Scraps and cut out a bunch of snowflakes on White American Crafts Textured Cardstock. I layered the beautiful flair badges over the bigger snowflakes and sequins from the Classic Cozy Mix over the smaller ones.
zzzzfullsizerender
I created a long tittle using a mix of Amy Tangerine, Heidi Swapp and Fitzgerald Thickers. I added a few small embellishments around my tittle and a teal polka dot washi tape as finishing touches.

This was a fun layout to create. I really enjoyed working with the Cuts2Luv products.

Hooray Layout- Art Party Friday

12138485_705950913228_347815577822020753_o-1

Hello friends! Today I am sharing a layout I created for Art Party Friday on The Crafty Maven Getaway YouTube channel. I love this weeks fun citrus inspired mood board. I knew I wanted to create a fun background.

15016154_759144343168_1502564359618517768_o

I began with some American Crafts White textured cardstock and some of my Shimmerz Paints (if you make any purchases at Shimmerz Paints mention my name at checkout and you’ll receive a FREE product.) I used Coloringz in No Yoking and Don’t Citron me. I also used a Spritz in 4 Leaf Clover. I did the packaging technique as well as some stenciling with a small stencil called  Bokeh Fragments by The Crafters Workshop . I used the stencil as a stamp as well. I added some splatters in all of the colors as well as in black using black India Ink.

fullsizerender-99

I chose to use a picture from a few years back of my two boys and my nephew. It was taken at a Birthday Party at a park towards the end of the day! They were exhausted from running around, they weren’t too excited for photos. I decided my title would be an appropriately sarcastic “Hooray.” I used a few sheets of Patterned paper from the Studio Calico Lemon Lush 12×12 paper pad. I took one of the papers that had a lot of florals on it and fussy cut the florals. I then clustered them in two ares of my layout. I scattered some of the smaller ones around.

fullsizerender-98

I also scattered around some of the Pinkfresh Studio Felicity Collection puffy stickers and some of the sticky back brads from the Simple Stories Sunshine and Happiness Collection. As a finishing touch I added clusters of three small black enamel dots in various sizes.

fullsizerender-97

Lastly, I added a lime green piece of patterned paper from my stash to mat the whole layout. I also distressed the edges of the white cardstock all the way around.
