Mojo Busters: A Scrapbooking Series-Episode 2

Hello Friends! Welcome back to the second week of Mojo Busters! My Scrappy friends and I have gotten together to create a series which will hopefully provide some inspiration for you when you need it.

This week we are working on Hannah’s challenge. Her challenge is to use a photo as inspiration. In my case, brand new photos, meaning photos recently taken, are my favorite to scrap. Sometimes, I come across an older photo and inspiration strikes. A photo can also inspire you to use things in your stash. Sometimes the colors in a photo can remind us of a specific collection or embellishment we own.

For this challenge I am using a photo of my grandparents. It was taken back in 1956. My mom came across this photo a few weeks ago. My grandparents have both passed and I miss them very much, it only made sense to add photos of them to my albums. I made a copy of the photo, printed it in black and white and got started.

For some reason this photo made me think of of the Love Always collection by Cocoa Vanilla. I used my silhouette cameo to cut out a beautiful heart cut file available  for download from Bea Valint’s Blog. I nestled my photo in between two loops in the heart cut file. I then created clusters of flowers underneath the photo and the heart.

I wanted to use one of the awesome free cut files this month. I chose the one with the lovely snowflakes on it.

I used my Silhouette Cameo and cut out all of the snowflakes on American Crafts White textured cardstock. I decided to use the cut outs as well as the negative space. They were both so pretty. I ripped up the page diagonally and added another White Cardstock behind it. I used pieces of the White Lace Paper Doilies where the edges met.

I added a blue piece of Patterned Paper, which I think may have been from an old MME paper pad and placed it behind the open snow flakes. I used the Shimmerz Oh say Can U Sea Coloringz and colored some of the snowflakes with a brush.I added the same blue patterned paper to the centers.
fullsizerender-7
I did some simple layers behind my photo and added strips of a fuchsia Heidi Swapp Patterned Paper to the right and bottom of the layout.

I then used the beautiful new Amore Sequin mix and added them to the snowflakes. I added a simple tittle using American Crafts Elm Thickers and a few  simple embellishments from my stash.

This was fun to create. I love the snowflake cut file.

Mojo Busters: A Scrapbooking Series-Episode 1

img_2173

Hello friends! Today is the first of five Fridays where my friends ChristyHannahMegan and I will share videos on our YouTube channels for our new series called Mojo Busters. Each week we will have a different challenge that each of us has come up with and we will all take on that challenge. The four of us met through the scrapbooking community and have become really good friends. We we all chatting one day and talking about our Scrappy Mojo, and the fact that it isn’t always present when we need or would like it to be. We all have very different life situations, however we have one thing in common, we are extremely busy. We know there are a lot of you out there who are too and a little helpful inspiration always comes in handy.

This first week we are taking on Christy’s challenge, to scraplift ourselves. I think this is a great way to get your mojo going. If something has worked for you in the past, why not try to recreate it. This is the layout that I made about a month ago that I will be scraplifting. It’s pretty recent but I love it and I knew I wanted to recreate it.

I am scrapbooking a photo on my boyfriend and I. It was taken on a weekend getaway to Atlantic City earlier this year. First, I decided on a collection. For my original layout I drew my colors and inspiration from the We R Memory Keepers Urban Chic Collection. For this scraplift I chose to use the MME On Trend 2 Collection. I began the same way I did with the original layout, I sprayed my Shimmerz Paints Mists in the center area of a piece of White AC Textured Cardstock. Once I got the color combination how I liked it, I added some stamping with a  Prima Script Stamp and Jet Black Staz On Ink. Then I added some texture with a Dina Wakely stencil and Modeling paste.

I layered my embellishments and photo in a diagonal design just like the original layout. Going from the top right to the bottom left. This is definitely a go-to design for me. I used embellishments from the MME collection.

I used the ephemera pack, stickers, flair badges and the acrylic words, one of which was part of my tittle. I used some tiny word phrase stickers from the Maggie Holmes Gather Collection and some orange and pink letter stickers from the Basic Grey B-Side Collection. I also used one of the Pearl Word thickers from the Paige Evans and Pink Paislee Take me Away Collection.

Here is a side by side look at both layouts. They’re so different yet so similar.

fullsizerender-49

I am really happy with how it turned out. This proves that if something worked once it will most likely work again. This was a great challenge.

Halloween 2016-Art Party Friday

12138485_705950913228_347815577822020753_o

Hello everyone! I am sharing this layout I created for The Crafty Maven Getaway. Today is Art Party Friday. I decided to use a mix of the Halloween Mood board and this weeks mood for my layout.

I began with American Crafts White Textured Cardstock. I did not prime my page with Gesso, I usually never do. My inspiration for the layout also came from an older Basic Grey Halloween/Fall chipboard set. I began began by getting a little messy and creating my background. I grabbed a piece of packaging and stared by creating the green color that was in the chipboard set. I mixed two Lyndy’s stamp Gang mists, Ponderosa Pines Olive and My Mojito Green. I then added in some yellow from my inexpensive watercolor set. I also used the Lindy’s Stamp Gang in Red Hot Poker Orange and one of my Shimmerz Vibez in Plum Tuckered Out. I added some splatters in the orange and purple as well as some splatters with black India Ink. I felt like my background was not complete. I took my Ranger Water Color Brush and added some shading with Grey from my inexpensive Michaels Artist Loft Pan set.

I layered a black piece of cardstock behind my photo and I added a few patterned papers from an older Studio Calico 6×6 paper pad. I then used a few of the Basic Grey chipboard pieces including a spooky tree that I just love and an oval frame. I didn’t want to over do it. I wanted the photo and the background to be the main focus. I also added a few bats from the Crate Paper After Dark Glitter Foam Word Thickers.

fullsizerender-37

For my tittle I used Black circle Basic Grey Letter Stickers which are from the B-side Collection. then I used some Glitter Thickers numbers to write out 2016. I used my black India Ink and a brush to color them black. I then scattered around a few Tim Holtz Tiny word stickers and one from a Teresa Collins letter sticker sheet.

fullsizerender-38

As a finishing touch I trimmed off a half inch all around and matted my photo on a Crate Paper black and white patterned paper. I love how my background and layout turned out.

Celebrate Good Times with Friends

Hello friends! Today I am sharing a layout I made just because. LOL. It seems that lately all my  layouts are either team assignments or for one of the series I have on my You Tube Channel with my scrappy friends. I was Inspired by the November 2016 mood board I created for The Pretty Patterned Paper Playground, my group with my friend Evi. I love the soft neutral colors with the pop of navy. I am scrapbooking a photo of a group of my good girlfriends. We were at a Birthday brunch for my friend Christy. I decided to print the photo in black and white .

img_2357

I decided to use the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Gather collection. The colors worked perfectly. I chose a beautiful light blue plaid for my background, the back was an even more beautiful pink floral. I decided to use both. I trimmed off the top left and bottom right corners and flipped the paper over creating page corners. This way I’d have a bit of both patterns. I then took the 6×6 Paper Pad and chose a few patterns from there. I layered strips of the different patterns in both page corners.

fullsizerender-27

I used the same pink floral paper, this time from the 6×6 pad and used that to mat my photo. I also used a thin mat of black. I also added photo corners to my photo with one of the polka dot patterned papers. I do not have the ephemera pack for this collection only the Sticker Sheet. I used a unicorn sticker which I raised up on fun foam and that sits next to my tittle. I also used one of the patterned papers from the 6×6 pad which has strips of unicorns on it. I added one strop under my photo and the other up top above my tittle. For my tittle, I used a mix of fonts, this is something I love doing. The word “Celebrate” is using the Dear Lizzy Saturday collection thickers called Petals. The word “good” was also using some older Dear Lizzy Pink Glitter thickers. The word “friends” is Amy Tangerine.

The word “Times” is from the Pinkfresh Studio Indigo Hills collection puffy sticker letters. For “with” I used the gold letter stickers from the Gather sticker sheet.

I scattered around a few stickers from the gather sticker sheet as well as some of the ephemera pieces from the Indigo Hills ephemera pack. I then finished it of with some

fullsizerender-31

I love how it turned out. I am seriously loving long mixed font tittles lately.
